How to win at being prepared for the start of school.

Now I know some schools are nearly at the end of their summer holidays but Hayleys school has only been broken up for one week and I know some parents who have the same break as us are screaming it’s too early to prepare for the start of school! But as parents we spend so much time trying to keep the children entertained in the summer holidays and sometimes we’re having so much fun and so busy that the start of school creeps up on us without us realising or being prepared, sound familiar? I’ve left school items until last minute before as it’s come around that quick but then you find that all the shops are out of the ‘nice’ stuff and you struggle to find the right sizes, so here I am to tlhelp you win at being prepared for the new school year.

Write a list: At the beginning of the holidays write a list of all the items your child will need once they return, it’s so much easier when it’s written down and you can cross the items off as you go along.

Here are a list of the items Hayley needed to help you.

  • P.e shorts
  • P.e tops
  • P.e bag
  • P.e pumps
  • Backpack
  • Shoes
  • Shirts
  • Dresses
  • Skirt
  • Cardigans
  • Coat
  • Water bottle
  • Iron on name tags
  • Tights

Know where to shop: know where to shop to get the best prices and cutest clothes and accessories. If you have any recommendations please let me know. 😁

Here are a lost of places I like to shop for back to school items.

  • Asda – Great for clothes and shoes
  • Smiggle – Great for bags (new shoppers get 20% off when you sign up to their newsletter)
  • Matalan – Also great for clothes
  • Etsy – Great for personalised items like bottles and iron on name tags
  • Claires accessories – Great for bags

Here are a few items I have ordered for Hayley.

This cardigan is from Asda, isn’t it so lovely with the ruffle detail up the middle and around the collar? As soon as I saw it I had to have and Hayley loves it!

This bottle is from Etsy and I’ve ordered her name on it which is a big help because there’s no other Hayleys in her class so she will always find her bottle, we have struggled before if someone had the same bottle you see.

This bag is from Smiggle, its one of those reversible sequin ones so on the pocket as in the picture they’re pink one way and black another so the girls are over the moon with this bag! Smiggle can be expensive but they do a 20% off if it’s your first order, I’ve ordered from them before so I just used an old email address to qualify again.

Here is a picture of all the uniform and the coat I have got Hayley from Asda.

I like to leave the school shoes and p.e pumps until about 1/2 weeks before they go back to make sure they have the right size.
