My 3 summer ‘not to do’s’

So I’m sure you’ve all seen a lot of blog posts that are based on people’s summer bucket list which basically is a list of things they’d like to do in the summer holidays with the children, well here is my not to do list for the summer holidays….

I will not let the children spend too much time on their screens i.e tablets or tv. My big hate at the minute is the children sitting for as long as they will get away with staring at their tv or tablet! Most of the time they’re just watching videos on YouTube and I find especially with my step son that they watch videos of people playing games! What is the fun or point in that? So my big mission in the summer holidays is to make sure they spend less time on these screens and more time either outside or being crafty.

I will not let them choose to stay inside when it’s lovely outside. Now I know sometimes children just want to relax and my daughter loves having a pajama day and there is nothing wrong with that, but there will always be a rainy day that we could take advantage of to stay inside and have a pajama and film day, so when it’s lovely weather outside I feel its a must to make the most of it while it lasts, especially because you never know if you’re going to have another nice day in England!

I will not let the children not try something because they think they won’t like it. This applies to more than just food, its for activities aswell. I remember going on holiday last year and booking them in to try things like rock climbing and archery and I remember them saying ‘I don’t want to try it, I won’t like it’ well wouldn’t it be rubbish if we just let them gave in and not try something new just because there is a chance they might not like it! Life is about trying new things, new experiences and what better time to try new things than the summer holidays!

Well there you have my 3 summer ‘not to do’s’, have you got any ‘not to do’s’ for the summer holidays? Let me know in the comments. 😁

  1. I like #2 ~ we have a pool and my husband and I adore being outside in the nice weather, the good thing is ever since my little boy has discovered the outside, that’s all he wants to do when I bring him home after work from daycare. So I don’t think it’ll be too much of a problem.

Summer is always so busy, so one of my not-to-do’s for our family is to make sure we don’t do too much. I don’t want to overbook our time so that we can spend some real quality time together – probably outside! 🙂 haha.
