Can’t live without sponge cake!

Looking back on my pictures and I came across this little beauty!! 😍

My mouth is starting to water as I stare at this delicious sponge cake!

Now in my opinion you can’t beat a sponge cake with jam and butter icing in the middle and the pink butter icing on top of this cake just took it to a whole new level of scrumptious!!! Sitting down with a slice of this cake and a cup of tea just makes everything seem better..

It’s the most basic recipe and it’s so easy to make so go and give it a try and you won’t regret it!!

Here is a list of what you will need:

  • 4oz of softened butter
  • 4oz of caster sugar
  • 2 medium eggs
  • 4oz of self raising flour
  • Icing sugar
  • Strawberry jam

For this cake you will need the oven set at 180c.

Start by mixing the butter and sugar together first then add the eggs and mix again, next add in the flour and fold it in using a spoon πŸ₯„. Now you are ready to separate into two baking trays and put in the oven for around 20-25 minutes.

Once it’s baked and cooled down put some jam and a bit of butter icing on top of one cake then place the second cake on top and decorate the top with pink butter icing then your ready to sit down with a cuppa and a slice of heaven!! πŸ˜‹Β
